United We S.A.W.'s 50th Anniversary Commemorative

United We SAWs (Seek After Wisdom), a public service fraternity and sorority, had a powerful impact on Black students at the University of Iowa. S.A.W. took Iowa’s campus by storm in the 1970s and early 80s, making you want to holler for more! Bold, brilliant, shining lights that transformed Iowa’s Black campus into a kaleidoscope of bold black consciousness, energy, excitement, and awareness. Its 21 founding members and new members held their own, earned the respect of black Greek fraternities and sororities on campus, and served as an example of what black brotherhood and sisterhood should look like and a model for others to follow.
